The iThemba Trust, established in 2015 by Nutun, is dedicated to making a heartfelt difference in the lives of individuals through the power of education and literacy.
Committed to nurturing growth and embracing the principles of B-BBEE, the Trust proudly supports 100% of its beneficiary base, which consists of historically disadvantaged Black South Africans, as outlined in the B-BBEE Act.
The Trust holds a strategic stake in Nutun Business Services South Africa Proprietary Limited. The returns generated fund educational initiatives, creating a sustainable model for long-term impact.
Our mission
Our focus spans the realms of early childhood education, pre-primary, primary, secondary, and tertiary schools. Currently, the Trust ensures that it distributes at least 90% of its income to benefit Black children, with at least 40% being Black females. As a B-BBEE-compliant trust, we are dedicated to supporting historically disadvantaged Black South Africans, ensuring access to quality education from early childhood through adulthood.

Through our funding and support, we empower HeadStart Kids, delivering essential early childhood development programs that impact over 1 400 children so far.
Project Literacy’s Run Home to Read Programme advances literacy for children and adults in underprivileged communities and creates employment for the youth employed as reading champions on the programme.
Finally, in partnership with Nutun International, One Agent One Child is a pioneering initiative committed to providing education and literacy to underprivileged children throughout South Africa.
