Rewriting stories
through our
programmes

We are dedicated to transforming lives through education. Our commitment to historically disadvantaged communities in South Africa is reflected in the impactful programmes we support.

Through strategic partnerships with organisations like HeadStart Kids and Project Literacy, we aim to provide young children and adults with the foundational skills they need for a brighter future.

HeadStart Kids is a non-profit organisation focused on early childhood development and wellness. Since 2019, we have impacted over 1 400 children daily, ensuring they receive the necessary nutrition and support for optimal growth and learning.

The HeadStart Kids Optimal Health Programme (OHP)

The OHP enhances the well-being of children aged 6 months to 5 years in Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres by addressing critical health and developmental needs.

The iThemba journey

Since 2020, the iThemba Trust has expanded its reach to support low-income urban and rural communities. Some of the ECD centres supported by iThemba include Best Beginners, Blair Atholl Pre-Primary School and Ebenezer Hope Christian Day Care Centre which are located in the Cosmo City and Malatjie Informal Settlement area near the Lanseria Airport in Johannesburg.

Project Literacy – Run Home to Read Literacy Programme (RHRLP)

Project Literacy’s RHRLP is an integrated, family-based literacy programme that promotes early childhood and adult literacy. The iThemba Trust has helped extend its reach to families across South Africa, including Soshanguve, Kliptown (Soweto), Zandspruit, Kimberley, Barkly West, De Aar and Botshabelo.

Through this initiative, we equip caregivers with child-care skills and empower them to become Reading Champions. With QCTO accreditation, Reading Champions can now receive NQF 4-5 qualifications in ECD, creating sustainable employment opportunities.
